THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE is a colorful collective vision of the events that took place in the streets of Seattle during the World Trade Organization (WTO) meetings on November 30, 1999 (N30). That day over 60,000 people came to Seattle to protest the WTO and its anti-democratic process.

While the corporate-owned media concentrated on property destruction, others took part in a new global democratic movement. This film looks beyond the selective eye of the corporate owned media and shows us what democracy really looks like.

"Midday there was a colorful march of over 5000 to the Seattle Center. The organizers had asked folks to come as their favorite endangered species. In the march there were large contingents of butterflies, turtles and whales. Anne Feeney, the labor protest singer, warmed the crowd up with a song whose chorus was, "capitalism sucks." They loved it and sang along."
